ABOUT DR. Davis-Best
What excites me most about being an OB-GYN is the lifelong, personal relationships I’m able to form with my patients. My love of science and working with people drew me to medicine in the first place, but in so many fields you have to choose between the two. As an OB-GYN, I get to help my patients through the major developmental stages in their life. I get to be there for the big moments, from their first pap smear to pregnancy, delivery, or hysterectomy. I’m able to form a unique bond with them, one that allows me to adjust my care to fit who they are as an individual, not just their medical needs. Though I enjoy the work I do as a surgeon, following my patients through time brings me the most satisfaction.
As an undergraduate, my love of science brought me to Boston, where I studied at Tufts University and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After that I went on to medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, where I specialized in obstetrics. I did my residency at George Washington University in DC before moving back to Georgia to begin practicing. I’m board-certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I’m still actively committed to education and to studying advancements in my field. I recently worked as a teacher with med students on rotations, and it’s something I plan to return to in the future.
I’m proud to be a new member of the team at iWomen’s Health Care. The size of the practice is perfect for me, and it’s great to work alongside such compassionate doctors and professionals. At iWomen’s Health Care, I get to work closely with my patients, as I’ve always enjoyed doing, and I’m able forge those lifelong relationships that are the most rewarding part of my job.
I love being involved with my patients. I get to help them throughout the different stages of their life—from their first pap smear and on through college and adulthood, maybe pregnancy. It’s the best part of the job.
Out of the office, my husband and two children keep me pretty busy. We travel when we can, though we love the Arizona weather. I also like to keep active—running, skiing, swimming, and even reading when I have the time. I love the theater, and I love the museums here in Arizona. A personal favorite of mine is the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, although I don’t actually play an instrument myself!
